Budget a separate tip fund. It is not included in the climb price, and it is not the crew's wage. The right amount depends on the length of the trek and the size of the team. Kilita will give you the current tip guidance for your route before you leave Moshi, so you are not guessing at the gate.
How Kilita plans it
Bring the tip money in US dollars, in notes you can divide between the guide, the cook, and the porters. Do not plan to find an ATM on the mountain. Ask us for the crew list so the total matches the people who actually walked with you. A generous tip does not replace fair wages. Ask about wages as well.
