Buy a policy that matches what you are actually doing. A safari needs medical cover and evacuation. A Kilimanjaro climb needs a policy that includes trekking to 5,895 metres, not a general holiday policy that stops at a lower altitude. Read that line yourself. Kilita does not sell insurance and cannot repair a policy that excludes the mountain.
How Kilita plans it
Buy it when you pay the deposit, so cancellation is covered as well as the trek. Carry the policy number in Moshi. If you add Zanzibar, check that the same policy covers the beach days. If a doctor has advised against altitude, do not book the climb and hope the insurance will sort it out.
What to do next
- The policy must mention high-altitude trekking if you climb.
- Buy it before the final payment.
- Carry the policy number.
- Kilita is not the insurer.
