What Is the Best Time of Year to Visit Tanzania for Wildlife and Culture?
2 November 2026

June to October is the dry season most people choose for wildlife, with easier roads and the northern migration. January to March is excellent on the southern Serengeti plains. November to May is greener, with more birds and fewer vehicles, and some afternoon rain. Cultural visits around Moshi and Arusha work in every month. The rain changes the trails, not the welcome.

How Kilita plans it

There is no month when both the Mara River and the Ndutu calving are at their peak. Pick the wildlife scene first. Kilita will then place the cultural day, the climb, or Zanzibar around it. Our when-to-visit guide goes through the year in more detail. Tell us if a school holiday fixes your dates. We will plan inside that limit.

What to do next

  • Dry season for classic wildlife viewing.
  • January to March for the southern herds.
  • Cultural days are a year-round add-on.
  • Choose the wildlife scene before the beach.
