Marangu uses mountain huts rather than tents. You sleep in bunkhouses along the route, which is why people call it the hut route. Space is shared. You still need a warm sleeping bag. The huts do not turn the climb into a hotel stay. Kilita's 5-day Marangu card, with hut accommodation, is $1,450 joining or $1,750 private.
How Kilita plans it
Because the huts have a limited number of beds, the route has to be booked properly with the park. Ask us to confirm the hut plan for your dates. Five days is a fast schedule. If you want huts and more time, say so before you pay, and we will tell you whether a longer Marangu plan is possible. The trail up and down is the same path.
What to do next
- Huts, not private rooms.
- Bring your own sleeping bag.
- Confirm the hut reservation on the quote.
- Ask about a longer plan if five days feels fast.
