Bring broken-in boots, a warm sleeping bag rated for below freezing, a waterproof shell, warm layers, a sun hat, gloves, and a headlamp. The mountain is hot in the forest, cold at night, and windy on the summit. Kilita's packing page lists the clothing in more detail. Rent what you do not already own, and try it on in Moshi.
How Kilita plans it
Do not buy boots the week you fly. Do not rely on a fashion jacket. The crew can supply tents and food. They cannot supply a pair of boots that fit you on summit night. Ask us which items Kilita can rent, and bring the ones that have to fit your body: boots, socks, and a sleeping bag you trust.
What to do next
- Boots must already be worn in.
- A warm sleeping bag is not optional.
- Use the packing guide, then tick the list in Moshi.
- Rent large items rather than flying with a new unused kit.
