What Is the Real Difference Between Budget Camping and Midrange Lodge Safaris?
2 November 2026

Budget camping is a mobile camp or a public campsite, a shared vehicle on the joining rate, and meals cooked by the crew. A midrange lodge safari uses fixed lodges or tented camps with a private room. The parks can be identical. A 5-day northern-circuit camping card is $1,000 joining or $1,300 private. The 5-day midrange version is $1,400 joining or $1,750 private.

How Kilita plans it

The extra money on the lodge card pays for the room, the bathroom, and usually a shorter evening. It does not buy different lions. Choose camping if you want the lower rate and you sleep well in a tent. Choose the lodge if a private room is part of the holiday. Ask Kilita which nights are campsites and which are named lodges.

What to do next

  • Compare the same number of days.
  • Ask for the name of each night's place.
  • Camping is not the same as a luxury tented camp.
  • The joining or private choice is separate from the bed.
